How to protect and move your whole workspace with an encrypted backup file only you can open.
Why it matters
- Everything you upload stays in your browser — that is the zero-egress guarantee. The flip side: lose the device or clear the browser and the data is gone. The Backup Vault closes that gap.
How the encryption works
- You choose a passphrase of three or more unrelated words.
- The backup is encrypted in your browser (AES-256 with Argon2id). The key never reaches Stratbridge.
- You save the encrypted .sbk file anywhere you like — Drive, OneDrive, iCloud or a USB stick.
Restore, and move between devices
- Restore on the same device, or on another one, to rebuild your whole workspace.
- This is also how you move a workspace to a new machine — restore from your .sbk.
- A 45-day check confirms your passphrase still opens your backup.
Wipe this device
For shared or returned machines.
- A deliberate "Wipe this device" control clears every table and setting, gated on your backup passphrase so a recovery path always exists first.
